Education is a fundamental right, yet millions of children in conflict zones are denied this opportunity. Our new education program in Afghanistan is working to change that reality.
The Education Crisis
Years of conflict have severely disrupted Afghanistan's education system. Many schools have been destroyed, and countless children, especially girls, have been unable to attend classes. Our program addresses this urgent need.
Community Learning Centers
We've established three learning centers in underserved communities, each providing:
- Primary education for children ages 6-14
- Accelerated learning programs for older students
- Adult literacy classes for parents
- Vocational training workshops
Student Success
Already, we're seeing remarkable progress. Fifteen-year-old Maryam, who had never attended school, is now reading and writing: "Education gives me hope for a better future. I want to become a teacher and help other girls learn."
Beyond the Classroom
Our program includes:
- Daily nutritious meals for all students
- School supplies and textbooks
- Psychosocial support services
- Safe transportation for female students
We're committed to expanding this program to reach 2,000 students by year's end.
